I live in tornado alley - Oklahoma, specifically, though I've been lucky enough this year that there haven't been any weird storms.

The last big tornado that hit kinda plowed through Joplin - and another one, which made a tree fall through the roof of a house that I had lived in before :'D

My grandpa had the storm shelter installed - it only comfortably fits like, 6 people - though he lets the neighbors use it too... which leads to 15 people in a small room :'3
Most communities have bigger storm shelters, but since we live out in the sticks, you have to either install your own or use someone else's storm shelter... which leads to crowding >_>
Also, do you have flashlights? Those might work !! You can also buy lanterns that are like, battery powered :0

It's like a basement I think? Ours is all concrete and very uncomfortable to sit in - it's underground with a metal door on the top that latches shut (so strong wind can't blow it off lol) - ours isn't a part of our house, since, well, I live in a mobile home >w> It is in our backyard tho!!!
Also I definitely recommend an electric/battery powered lantern - it's bright and the batteries last a while!!

I can list the things we have for emergencies!!
We have a battery powered lamp and flashlights (small) - a folder with all important documents (birth certificate, social security card, etc), I have a small backpack full of important personal belongings (gifts from friends, things I wouldn't be able to get back if they were lost in a storm mainly). We also have extra blankets in case the power goes out, plus buckets of ice for stuffing in the fridge/freezer to keep things cold. Other things we have are some portable phone battery charging pack things? Except.. I always forget to charge those lol

I had some custom CSS padding that made some of the interaction buttons look weird - I'm glad that my fix worked!!
