"Mmhmm." Ash mumbled.

"I'll wait for it, then." he told her.

A couple of days had passed, and nothing.

No text. No phone call. No visit.

And certainly no return of the limiters.

Ash found that very strange.

"Wonder what's up..." he said, taking out his cell phone and calling Vicki's phone.

When Ash called, the call went unanswered. He tried again, to no answer. To say he was concerned, would be understatement. He was also quite confused as to what was going on. Why was his sister - either version - not answering?

He vanished from where he was, appearing in the den like area of the room, and looked around. He didn't see his sister there, at all. He couldn't even feel her mana, either.

He saw her phone on the dresser that the TV was on though, and the tablet on the bedside table as well.

"..." he was silent as he saw this.

"The hell?" he muttered.

"Yo!" he called out.

"Hey, you in!?" he asked.

'She wouldn't have gone out. Phone's still here.' he thought, going over and grabbing it.

"Hellooo?" he called out again.

A few seconds after that, he heard the air get quieter. It wasn't something he could outright identify, but it was most definitely something.

And then Vic walked out of the bathroom, completely nude, and drying her hair with a towel.

As soon as she saw Ash, she froze for a fraction of a second before the towel she was drying her hair with was wrapped around her torso.

". . . . Hi." She said simply, sounding a bit unimpressed.

Ash was silent, before whirling around.

"Woops." he said.

"My bad." he told her.

"I'll.... I'll just step outside the room." he then said further.

"Let you dry off and get dressed." he went on.

"Because we gotta talk." he finished, making his way to the door, and making sure he didn't look at her.

"I'll see you in a few, AJ." Vic stated before he stepped out the door.

Sure enough, a few minutes later, she opened it and stepped aside.

"Come on in." She said simply.

"I do apologise for that." She added as he stepped in.

"I Hadn't expected anyone to suddenly be here."

Ash stepped inside and waited until the door was closed.

"Indeed." he said.

"Vicki never called me." he told her.

"Didn't text, didn't visit." he went on.

"Certainly didn't return the limiters." he continued.

"Was wondering if something was wrong, so I called and got no answer. So I came here, a bit concerned." he told her further.

"And I return to see... that... you're still here." he then commented.

"What's up with that?" he asked.

Vic just sighed as she took a seat on the bed.

"Yeah... that's the thing. I have no idea." She admitted.

"I can't contact anyone from the future, of course, and along with that, I can't get myself back. I've been trying." she added.

"... Did stopping him cause the future to just... die?"She asked, knowing he wouldn't have any idea.

"I dunno." he shrugged.

"But the future just dying doesn't make sense." he told her, before pausing.

"Uh... well.... hm." he then mumbled.

"Wait, don't we live in a multiverse?" he asked.

"Did you meddling with the past create some alternate timeline, and now you can't get back to your future because it's now technically another dimension?" he then asked her.

"...or am I talking out my ass?" he wondered aloud.

"I honestly don't know how this crap works."

"While yes, it is very possible that that's what happened, and quite likely, it's also hard to believe that I can't get back because of it." Vic answered.

"The long story short - the spell that I used to come here in the first place would return me back, regardless of dimensional hopping." She said before pausing.

".... unless Eddie's dead. I need him to return. If he's dead or otherwise impaired... that would explain it..." She added after a couple seconds, seeming to just realise that herself.

Ash was silent as he heard that.

"...maybe Lindsay didn't destroy it after all?" he said.

"His notes, that is." he clarified.

"...but if he didn't, then... oh, I don't know!" he exclaimed.

"Obviously the future isn't what it should be, yeah?" he asked.

"Guess we gotta try and find out why. Maybe there's some clues in THIS part in time." he suggested.

"Admittedly, I don't even know where to start." Vic commented with a heavy sigh, before thinking about it for a moment.

Although... I suppose contacting Hal and seeing if Lindsay stopped by there would be a start. Beyond that, I have no idea."[/b] She looked to her brother.

"You have any suggestions?"

"Although, I think I scared him straight enough he would have destroyed it all. I don't think he would have intentionally left anything behind."

"Hmmmm." Ash mumbled.

"We could ask Kiah." he told her.

"If anyone would know if he destroyed his documents and scrapped his research, it'd be her." he said.

"She IS one of the few that were able to see him work a bit." he shrugged.

"I can try and contact her, see what she says?" he offered.

"But as you said, I think Lindsay would have done it anyway, in blind scared obedience." he reasoned.

"I ... really did not want to force him into it that way." Vic admitted.

"But... push came to shove."

She was silent, as was pretty normal, as she watched the news. She couldn't believe what it was that they were saying.

No... She thought before getting to her feet and quickly leaving the room, and the house. She made her way outback and to the small greenhouse that they had on the grounds, before stepping in and looking around. She didn't see who she was looking for right quick, so just sighed.

"Dad!" She called, something akin to ... was that fear to her voice?

"C'mere! Like now!" As she waited, she pulled her phone out of her pocket and started to navigate to the news stream on there. Once she did that, she paused it before sighing, and waiting, knowing that he wasn't going to like this.

After a few seconds, she saw her father coming towards her, haste in his stride, concern in his eyes.

"Alice? What is it?" he asked.

"What's wrong?" he asked her.

Alice then handed him her phone, and he looked at the feed.

"...hunt? Execution...?" he mumbled.

"Alice, what.... what is this?" he asked her.

"Is this some kind of sick joke on the internet?"

"You're right." he said.

"If she were to find out about this..." he went on, trailing off at the end.

"Well... you know what would happen." he muttered.

"And nobody wants that." he said further.

"But... how could this have happened...?" he then asked aloud, quiet and concerned.

Alice just shook her head.

"I have aboslutely no idea." She admitted.

"What I do know, is that this isn't good, and hopefulyl this'll just blow over as a fuck up. BHut.... I doubt it." She added with a sigh.

"... Aunt Hollie or Vicki would be two to ask... or Emma if you can get ahold of her."

"...actually..." he then said.

"On that note, have you seen Vicki?" he asked.

"Or heard from her?" he asked further.

"I haven't spoken to her in a few days." he commented.

"Everything all right with her?" he asked, not wanting to assume the worst right now.

"Last I heard, she's staying down in San Diego to help with Hal's paperwork. Stuff that Aunt Hollie would usually be needed for, but Vicki can help with for now, due to the whole aiming to take the position thing." Alice answered honestly as she navigated through her texts.

"Here." She said as she handed it over so he could read the texts.

It didn't read quite like Vicki, but close enough. Perhaps she was just stressed or something. It was plasible.
