Hal was silent, and pinched the bridge of his nose.

"...you are making next to NO sense." he told her.

"For a second, I thought that you were from another dimension, but now your terminology seems to say that you from THIS world." he said.

"It's complicated!" Emerald said, sticking his head in, having stuck around.

"Involves time-travel, too!" he added.

Vic just sighed before motioning over in the direction that Emerald had made his presence known.

"As he said." She stated simply.

"I am here, intentionally, to stop my dear brother to stop being an idiot about something." She told him.

". . . and th elonger I am here, the more of a risk there is, I admit."

Hal just groaned again.

"Wonderful." he said.

"....you takin' about Lindsay?" Emerald asked.

"We are." Hal confirmed.

"I think he's supposed to show up Saturday morning." Em then commented.

"Ah, yes. At 9 am." Hal remembered.

"And it's... Thursday right now." he finished, looking at his computer.

"Saturday at 9am." Vic repeated. "Duly noted." She added.

"I will be making sure I am here to corner him." She added before pausing.

"If I were to hazard any sort of guess, he's been working in the lab, with Kiah and Ilias on something that even you aren't entirely aware of. Please correct me if I'm wrong."

"Even I'M not sure what he's been working on." he admitted.

"Is it really so dangerous, though?" he then asked her.

"I've never seen Lindsay as one that would do something like that." he told her.

"Or is this an emphasis on his being 'an idiot', and his naivety having consequences?" he asked.

"He's being led wrong, and even I don't know who by, but it's going to go cause more problems than anyone wants to deal with." was all vic said.

She tended to not be specific, would give enough information to satisfy the average person, but leave most of it unsaid and unknown.

Both Hal and Emerald were silent as she said what she did.

"That's... less than informative." Hal said in an unimpressed tone.

"You get used to it." Emerald mumbled.

"So you know her." Hal then said to him.

"I do." Emerald confirmed. "It's a long story that is borderline headache-inducing, but yes, I DO know here." he said further.

"And she can be trusted." Hal went on.

"Of course." Emerald replied.

"Then you shall have full access to this place, much like Vicki would." Hal said to Vic, before pausing.

"...and I suppose this means my scheduled meeting with Vicki is cancelled." he mumbled at the end.

"Remind me as to what it was regarding, and I may be a better help than she was." Vic commented.

"I do, however, make no promises." She then added as she stood there, seeming to exude far more authority than Vicki ever did, or could.

"Before I do go though, I am going to need recommendations for where to stay, as I cannot go home."

Both Hal and Emerald were quiet for a moment, before Hal sighed.

"Firstly, Vicki was coming here so we could work on her showing she is capable of being Hollie's successor." he told her.

"...oh yeah, that IS a thing that's happening." Emerald mumbled.

"Secondly, Hollie generally stays at the Season's Inn here in the city." Hal then told her further. "Specifically, when she's here on official business." he then clarified further.

"Mostly because they cater to mages... and strong ones, at that." he said.

"They ARE pricey, though."

"I admit, I am not sure if my current bank account can handle a stay there for a few days." She admitted.

"I know where it is." She then said before pausing.

"Is Aunt Hollie there or expected to be there soon?"

Hal thought for a moment.

"No, I don't believe so." he answered.

"Why?" he asked.

"And Emerald, you say this IS, indeed, Vicki, and we can trust her?" he asked Emerald.

"In essence, yes, and yes we can." Emerald confirmed.

"Then MY bank account can easily accommodate you." Hal then told Vic.

"however, if there is nothing you need me for, I will be making my way there. I have the mother of all headaches brewing. And I suspect it is due to the time slip. "

Hal just sighed heavily.

He then reached into one of the drawers and took out a plastic card. He fiddled on his computer for a moment, and handed the card to here.

"Here." he said.

"A disposable pre-loaded credit card." he told her.

"Usually given to agents going undercover, or don't want to leave a paper trail in case their cover gets blown." he said.

"I've loaded it with enough for a week's stay at the Season's Inn."

Vic accepted the card. As her hand brushed his though, he felt... Something. There was no way to properly identify it, but he knew what it seemed to feel like.

Strong mana. Extremely strong mana.

One would say painfully strong.

He could feel how it almost seemed that the body was about to be bursting at the seams, as well. Her current physical form was not meant to be housing newly so kuch mana.

"Hm." he mumbled.

"You may need limiters." he told her.

"SERIOUS limiters." he said further.

"I get the feeling that, if left unchecked, your body will fall apart." he went on.

"...I'm still not fully convinced on any of this, but if Emerald deems you trustworthy, I will believe him." he then said.

"You should be going ASAP."

"I only wish you knew you could trust me completely and implicitly." Vic said, a slight smirk to her face.

"For now, I will bid you farewell. I do have Vicki's phone, so if you need me, you can easily contact me. Please ensure that none of my family, barring my brothers, comes to bother me if anyone comes searching. There would be serious complications because of my mana." She stated before heading for the door.

" If you have any questions, feel free to call Vicki's cell phone." with that, she was gone.

Emerald and Hal watched her leave, and Emerald sighed.

"Yeah, I know." he said.

"It may be best if you don't give yourself a headache over this." he suggested to Hal.

"Just know that that IS Vicki. She says she's not, and she's technically right, but that IS Victoria Remmington, and she IS from this dimension." he assured him further.

"......" Hal was silent, and smirked.

"I can get my answers NOW." he said further.

"Shoo, shoo. I'm sure you have work to do." he then told Emerald, who looked confused and left.

He then snapped his fingers, and closed his eyes.

"....interesting." was all he mumbled to himself.

Vic sighed as she stepped into the prepaid room. She had one week, and hoped that maybe, just maybe, she'd able to do what she needed to within that timeframe.

For now though, she had something else she needed to tend to.

So she made her way to the room phone and sat on the chair that was by it. It ... wasn't easy, she just sighed heavily before dialing the operator.

It wasn't easy, but eventually she was able to get through to ringing the home phone fo rher brothers.
