"20 minutes?" Leo asked.

"Yeah, sure." he replied.

"Heck, if you want, I'll show up in 15 or so to get you and bring you here." he added.

After the details were ironed out, a figure approached the front door of the house, making sure they weren't seen by anyone.

Once they were there, they knocked. And waiting.

All the while, they were clutching a vial of something.

Why can't I just be

When they knocked, they were left waiting for a few minutes before the door opened.

"Oh! Hi." She said. "Hal's not here at the moment. Do you want me to tell him you stopped by?" She asked cordially, and curiosly.

"I can definitely do that if you do."

The one there just smirked.

"Oh, no." he replied.

"I'm here looking for you." he told her.

"You're going to do a little something for Vanessa." he then said further.

"After all..." he went on, before pausing.

"The future is in her hands." he finished, as though he were reciting something to her.

Lunet twitched when he said what he did. He saw something flash, briefly, across the visor that was in front of her face. As he saw that though, he knew that it worked.

It wasn't anything akin to how it was portrayed online or in TV shows. She didn't have an extreme reaction, but he could see the subtle changes to her face.

She was completely silent, waitin for what he was going to say next.

The man smirked, and took off his hood, revealing himself to be Azari.

"Here." he said, handing her the vial.

"Take this with you the next time you go to the Unit." he told her.

"Find a way to get it into the ventilation system." he went on.

"Make sure NOBODY sees this, or you putting it in the system."

She accepted what it was that he held out to her.

"Of course." She said, her voice a bit deadpan.

"Is there a deadline?" She then asked, wanting to make sure she had all the information.

"A week." Azari replied.

"Get it done by then." he told her.

"By ANY means necessary." he added.

"And you never saw me. Never heard from me." he continued.

"Ie: this conversation did not happen." he went on.

"Once you finish your mission, you will return to what you were doing previously." he then finished.

"I will." She said after a moment.

"Do you wish to confirmation of the completion?"

"You will confirm once you have finished the mission." he told her.

"You will do this by leaving the empty vial in your room once you return home from finishing the mission." he said.

"Hide it. I will return in one week to collect it." he went on.

"Understand?" he asked.

Lunet nodded.

"You know where I will hide it." was all she said before they both heard her cell ringing, signifying someone was calling.

"Answer it. Act normally." Azari told her. Lunet nodded before doing just that.

"Hey." She greeted the one on the other end.

"Hey Lunet. I'm just calling before coming by. You ready for me to pick you up?" Leo asked.

"Hold on, lemme double check that I've nothing I need to tend to before you show up." Lunet answered before looking to Azari, seeking the answer from him.

Azari took a step back.

He then nodded, signifying that now was a good time for her to be picked up.

He also gestured to the vial, showing her to pocket it and hide it.

Then, as quick as anything, he dashed off, seeming to disappear in the distance.

Like he was never there.

Lunet just shook her head before closing the door silently and slipping the vial into her pocket as she'd been told to.

"Yeah, I think so." She then told Leo.

"Just gotta throw my shoes on, make sure the door is locked and whatnot. Is there anything you need for me to bring? Tech, specifically, I think."

"And a known safe boot disc for Chloe's AI." he told her.

"She's buggin' out, and it has to be a software thing." he continued.

"Because her hardware's just fine." he said further.

"Regardless, come expecting to do a full system reboot."

"Oh? all right." Lunet said before sighing.

"And seriously? Damn. Ok. I'll grab all of that. If you show up before I have it, just meet me in the den." She told him simply.

"See you soon." was the last thing she said before ending the call, and heading off to collect as he'd requested her to.

Leo did arrive before she was done, but it was only about three minutes before she stepped into the den, her messenger bag draped across her torso presumably with all her tech in it.

"I'll good to go whenever you are."

"Let's get moving then." he said.

With that, the two of them disappeared in a swirl of sand, appearing in a designated area in the R&D lab.

"All right, let's go." he told her.

"See if you can't figure out what the hell's going on with Chloe."

Lunet just sighed.

"Yeah, here's hoping I can." She commented.

"Because... it's weird she's glitching out, if I'm being honest." She added with a shake of her head.

"I was just updating a few things the other day... what the hell happened, I wonder." She knew he couldn't answer her.

Did I cause it? she wondered before sighing internally. She didn't, she knew that. There was no way that she could have.

"Anyway, I don't know where she is, so lead the way."

"You got it." he replied.

The two of them then made their way to the room where Chloe was... and Lunet could see Chloe's shut-down and lifeless shell.

"Right." Leo said, approaching the laptop that was connected to her.

"This is the error I'm getting." he told her, showing what was on the screen.

"I can extrapolate from that only so far, so feel free to put your expertise to good use." he added with a small sigh.

Lunet looked honestly puzzled.

"I'm... not entirely sure what the cause is." She admitted.

"But at least now I have an idea as to what the few problems it could be are." She added with a light sigh.

"Let's download her storage and reinstall the boot disk. Might be easier."

"All right, let's do it." he said.

He then made sure his computer was properly detached from Chloe, and that Lunet could connect HER laptop to the android.

"All right...." he mumbled.

"You should be connected." he said.

"I should have plugged into the right ports." he went on. "Lemme know if the proper drives are showing up."

Yeah, looks it." She said after a moment or two.

"Anyway, let's see if we can get her up and running again." She then said. "Because... well... suffice to say, this is something we should figure out sooner, rather than later."
