@Francisco: One Piece is great! It's an Epic about Pirates. It's the best selling comic book series ever, even beating out Superman.
I can't really tell you much about the story since different arcs have different themes but the characters are all written very well and it will make you cry, laugh, get angry and it has great world building too. The art style puts some people off but I've never thought twice about it. The manga is a faster read if you want to catch up with it but the music from the anime is good too.

@Francisco: Sure! I would say that One Piece shows how different of a story it is during the Arlong Arc, which is not very far into it. Ep 31. It's still good before hand, and you need to see all of the character before that for it to be meaningful, but yeah.
