Jaden was silent as Desiree said all she did, and then sighed at the end.
"....I know." he replied.
"Kalin tends to play a big role in my life as well." he told her.
"She's one of the two females I know that can scare me into acting a certain way. The way they WANT me to act." he admitted.
"...second being my mother..." he then mumbled.
"But it seems I have Kalin to thank, then." he continued.
"For allowing this to progress further... and better.... than it started."

". . . " Desiree was silent for a moment."My mother's pretty scary too..." She said, her voice quiet, the cuteness almost gone as it sounded to be replaced by a scared child - almost.
"Anyway! Yes. Thank her. I will be doing the same." She then said.
"I will take my leave now. It was a pleasure to meet you, Saber."

Jaden was about to comment on the tonal change to Desiree's voice, but stopped himself.
'No.' he thought.
'It's too early for that.' he told himself.
"And it was my pleasure and honor to meet you as well." he responded.
"But.... you don't have to call me that." he told her.
"My name is fine. Jaden."

Desiree just chuckled."Jaden it is, then." She said with a soft smile.
"Desiree, here. Although... I'm pretty sure you knew that already." She added with a light smirk.
"Desiree McCormick, if you will." She added, a light bow following. It was just how she'd introduce herself to people she cared about - him, Vincent, Kalin... when she wasn't nervous, she tended to be quite cordial.
She then paused though, wondering if he'd know her name.

Jaden looked to be about to say something, but then paused.
And thought for a moment.
"AH!" he exclaimed.
"Of course!" he said.
"I've seen you perform in the past!" he told her.
"Holy cow. I can't believe that didn't occur to me until now." he commented. "Your party-like tricks and levitation are amazing to behold." he complimented her.
"Admittedly, I haven't seen a show in a while..." he then admitted.
"But you tend to lean towards children's birthday parties, don't you?" he asked.
And thought for a moment.
"AH!" he exclaimed.
"Of course!" he said.
"I've seen you perform in the past!" he told her.

Desiree just laughed lightly.'I know." She said.
"I do." She added, answering his question.
"Of course I do. My act is very much innocent." She commented. 'And I do not attract the same crowd you do."
"But I like it that way. Seeing the wonder on the faces of the children is amazing."

"My act tends to be a lot more adult-oriented." he said.
"And it attracts real weirdos..." he then mumbled.
"But hey, may as well earn their money, as opposed to some hokey 'occult' shop that hands out bogus charms and stupid candles said to summon demons." he reasoned.
"Good lord, those places are cringey." he admitted.
"I know." he replied.
"My act tends to be a lot more adult-oriented." he said.
"And it attracts real weirdos..." he then mumbled.
"But hey, may as well earn their money, as opposed to some hokey 'occult' shop that hands out bogus charms and stupid candles said to summon demons." he reasoned.
"Good lord, those places are cringey." he admitted.
Desiree nodded."That... they are." She agreed after a moment or two.
'I've been in one, once." She continued.
"Bought a rather gorgeous tarot deck, but nothing else. The rest was quite... questionable. I'd been told they had quality crystals and quartz there, but... yeahhh... no."

"They're for rich kids that want to be 'underground' and 'counter-culture', but think that 'Hot Topic' is 'too mainstream'..." he went on, some venom in his tone.
"So I don't feel bad about them spending their money to see my shows, despite not liking them, personally." he continued.
"Better -I- get it than those snake oil sales frauds."

"But then again, I Found out after the fact it was a shop that was run by mana hunters, just trying to lure in mages. So of course they'd have some nice things." She added with a sigh.

'It was one of the few times my eye didn't help." She paused here before looking almost curiouis.
"I do.. I have about fifteen decks back home. Why?"

"I look forward to it. We'll make it a date then, for an unknown time in the future." She said with a chuckle before grabbing the bottles of water again, and leaving him in the room, alone.
He had things he needed to tend to, after all.

He then grabbed his cell phone, and called his mother.
"....please let her not be on a hunt..." he muttered.
Thankfully, she wasn't. Because she answered in the first place.
"Mom." he said.
"We need to talk about a couple of things." he told her.
"Sooner, rather than later."

When Jaden arrived at his mothers house, she was just walking up the drive.
"Oh hey there." She said.
"You're... not usually so prompt." She commented, her tri-coloured hair seeming to dance in the light wind as she approached her door and opened it.

Jaden just nodded, and stepped inside.
Once he did, and she followed, he sighed.
"Did I interrupt anything?" he asked.
"I really hate it when I interrupt a hunt, or guild stuff." he told her.
"Then again, I'm more than happy to interrupt your Triad stuff." he added with a shrug.
"Anyway, yeah, two things. One more pressing than the other." he then said.
Once he did, and she followed, he sighed.

"I really hate it when I interrupt a hunt, or guild stuff." he told her.
"Then again, I'm more than happy to interrupt your Triad stuff." he added with a shrug.

'I was merely at the new cafe a few blocks away to test out their blends." She told him.
"Here." She then said as she held a hand out to him.
"It's actually pretty good." She then admitted before heading deeper into the house. On the way she hit her voicemail to see if there was anything.
"Sydney, you need to call me. Something about that file you submitted... I'm not sure it's going to work. I need more information." Hollie's voice echoed out of it, which just net a sigh from Sydney.
"I'll deal with that later." She muttered before saving it and moving to the next, were there one.
"Anyway, Jaden, have a seat. What's up?"

"More troubles with the Council, huh?" he asked.
"And this is pretty damn good." he told her.

"I need to... well... learn more about it..." he admitted quietly.

"But beyond that, No." She added.
"Now, books on the eye? Sure." She said.
"I've got some in the basement. What the hell is prompting you to read up on that?"
