They're usually heavily sedated for neuters! Its a very quick procedure (like 2 minutes).
The reason you fast him is cause under any kind of sedation he can vomit and if he aspirates(breathe into the airways) this, it can cause aspiration pneumonia and we dont want this!
They're usually not intubated(breathing tube down their trachea which creates a seal and protects the above from happening) so gotta fast em! But fasting goes for any kind of sedation/anesthesia! :)
