omg the hobbit holes in new zealand are amazing but i'm biased because ...lotr fangirl. they even have the green dragon tavern that'll serve you alcohol and stuff.

Tolkien has a lot of appendices and other writings.... (cough-Silmarillion-cough) that feed into the world and is interesting from a world building perspective.

I will add one more thing to learning about Tolkienverse. I learned almost all the obscure lore I know from reading wikipedia and just following those links XD The other mainstream knowledge came from the movies and games ;p

xvz - Tolkien's books are a much different style of writing than Harry Potter. Long though.
