Thanks to Hollywood romanticism and a wandering imagination, I always fantasized about life in other time periods--namely places like Ancient Egypt, Rome, the British Isles, etc.
But it's never lost on me how amazing it is that we can turn on a PlayStation or Xbox and, within 30 seconds, have games or movies or TV shows at our fingertips; or carry terabytes worth of data around on a laptop. Like y'all I remember when 128MB was big. We hold fire and light in the palm of our hand, fly high in the sky and swim deep beneath the seas without much of a second thought.
On the one hand, my heart yearns to know history the way it really was; to lay eyes upon the pyramids wrapped in white and gold, or to walk through the bustling marketplaces of Ancient Rome. But on the other hand it's amazing to live in a world where the science fiction of the previous century is becoming reality. Smartphones and tablets are something right out of Star Trek! Smart Homes emulate an AI assistant. Autonomous cars are becoming more practical. The future has crept up on us and continues to do so.
Tesla would be awestruck at our technology but also like "wtf, you guys are still using coal / fossil fuels? What a bunch of scrubs."

Just a lil
There are some folks around here who go all-out; most are pretty tame, though, and a lot don't bother decorating, either because they're old or because the only thing most people have to put lights on are some cacti. c':
I do kinda miss it though...even the cold weather. :c

@Totalanimefan: You'd think a company which specialises in producing educational content, and charges exorbitant prices for subsequent "revisions" that literally add things, remove them, and add them again, could afford to hire videographers who record with something better than a potato. c':
Thankfully none of the instructional videos which I can recall were painful to listen to, but I did enjoy chuckling at the way everyone spoke with that 1950's Trans-Atlantic accent.

Oof, smdh at your roommate. Cleanliness issues aside, that poor bird doesn't deserve to live in squalor! And then to gaslight you about the issue? Not very cash money! I imagine you don't want to rock the boat considering you have to live with her though and can absolutely relate / understand that sentiment.
I dreamt a lot as a kid / teen; had some recurring dreams, many vivid dreams, and one particular lucid dream that was amazing (I was Raven from Teen Titans [ayyy] and was able to use all her powers, including flight) as well as other lucid dreams that were grounded in reality, but still very surreal and had me fact-checking Real Life™ the next day.
A couple years back I did have a stress dream in which I was losing all my teeth (-10/10 do not recommend); and had a very strange, disturbing vivid dream as a teen which I honestly don't even want to describe--it was that unsettling--that was probably induced by stress as well.
These days I'm usually tired enough to be out like a light and don't remember my dreams, which kinda sucks because sometimes they were really amazing; though other times it ended with sleep paralysis, or waking up really disoriented, and those were not amazing.
Are your mixes stored in airtight containers? I always gazed longingly at the sets of dry storage canisters at the store cause who doesn't want a Pinterest-worthy pantry? But always passed them up cause I couldn't really justify the expense... until a spider fell out of a bag of rice that I'd just stuck my hand into. :x

Gosh I miss Ernya and Sapherna. I always lurked more than posted, but still loved visiting and "people-watching" and designing avatars.
