Waaaaaah, tamales sound so good! T^T I was looking at recipes on how to make them, but they sound like so much work (and idk where to even buy dried corn husks like that!)
This year I bought a tofurkey roast stuffed with rice stuffing. I’m also going to be making a pumpkin pie and a pumpkin cheesecake, green bean casserole, and home made mashed potatoes and gravy.

Due to schedules we don't really ever celebrate the day of
Plus my birthday is nearby and we usually have a better shot on that day so that's when we'll do it
If it's just me mom and dad we might make a small turkey and maybe mashed potatoes and corn and gravy but that's about it
When it's the family gathering there's a larger turkey, the sides already mentioned, maybe some stuffing, and possibly a cake
This year we're gonna have pies. Blech

@tsundererra: oh man yes they are bomb! The process is bit difficult. I use to help my grandma make them growing up.
We would all sit around the table and make so many and many many flavors!
All the supermarkets like in Los Angeles CA sell all the stuff to make tamales.
Also you will see random vendors selling ready to eat tamales outside of any store XD

No idea. Last year, we just stayed home, so it was like a regular day. This year, my dad invited my brother and I to eat out. Don't know where we'd be going to eat. I'm just glad it would only be the three of us(or two if my brother doesn't want to join). < < I don't particularly care for my dad's girlfriend.
@inatlaka: lol <3 No problem... dinner is usually around 2, my time. This is actually a scaled-back menu from what I usually do, and I'm still putting final touches on it. I'll have some snacks too...
@inatlaka: Oh, this one...has quite a bit of a backstory. Save for my dad's stepmom, no one on his side of the family likes her.

@inatlaka: The whole tamale making process just sounds so cool. I’ve heard about everyone sitting to help make it, and it sounds like such a good time. So jealous you learned to make it from your grandma!
I’ll have to check my global stores again for ingredients. My area has more Salvadorans and Peruvians, so I see a lot of Pupuserias and grilled chicken with seasoned rice being sold at every corner. T^T There’s only one authentic Mexican restaurant near me that sells tamales, so I get my fix from them. What do you usually put in your tamales? Any cheese or meat?
I’ve only had Tofurkey once before. It’s less work to make one, and I can share with my pet birbs since there’s no meat or dairy. xD

We usually have different flavors some have cheese with jalapeños, chicken in green spicy sauce,
beef in red spicy sauce, plain only corn, pineapple flavor, pork in green sauce, straberry flavor.

@inatlaka: Omg, you’re making me want to book a flight to CA just to stuff my mouth with all those tamales! I’ve only ever tried cheese, and shredded chicken. There’s also a pulled pork one that I haven’t tried because I don’t eat pork. xD My Mexican restaurant needs to step their game up! I didn’t know you could make so many flavors, even fruity ones.

I now live in Mexico right when you cross the border from CA XD and every corner has a vendor. Even a car drives around the streets announcing on their intercoms "TAMALES!" XD
