Forums General Chit-Chat Yesterday I went to a Knitting store

And it was really cool! I had never been to one before. One of my husband's work friends really liked a store that was nearby when we were having a day trip so we went to a place called A Verb for Keeping Warm. I guess it's a really well known store?
I saw lots of materials and two people were making yarn there!

We had a really large store in my city for knitting and sewing. Unfortunaly the store went out of business last year.

@vengeance: That's really sad! I don't know how this store stays in business since the Bay Area is a very expensive place, but I'm glad that it's there. Even though I don't knit it was a great store and it brought lots of joy to the people there were there.

@Totalanimefan: Yeh it started out as a small store and then it expanded. Not sure why it went out of business. Maybe the economy had to do with it. It expanded when people did't have a whole lot of money to spend.

@vengeance: Yeah true. I feel like more people would love to have a knitting hobby, and more hobbies in general but the economy is keeping people from being able to enjoy what they love.

@Totalanimefan: In this case it seemed more of a people started knitting and sewing because they did not have enough money for new clothes. And now that they have more money again they will just buy new clothes.

@vengeance: Oh I see. I do suppose it's faster and easier to just buy them instead of knitting. Although fast fashion is horrible for the environment!

@Totalanimefan: It is and it is. But to many people still want new clothes each year. I have some dresses that are years old already.

@vengeance: I'm exactly the same. I don't buy fast fashion and my clothes last me years. I also buy 2nd hand too.

@Totalanimefan: I would not mind buying second hand but I never see stuff I like. I bought one dress second hand and it was also from an expensive brand. My mom is something like "You have been wearing this dress for 3 years now. Isn't it time for something new?". And I am like "It still looks good so no!".

@vengeance: Yeah exactly. If I have some clothing that I really love I'm not going to stop wearing it!
For 2nd hand stores I think it just depends on where you live. Like where I am right now is not the best for it, but I feel like where I used to live in Florida was great for finding amazing 2nd hand items! I have some nice, expensive dresses and shirts from those places.

@Totalanimefan: I even went into some second hand stores in some of our biggest cities. And even then I never see things I like.

@vengeance: RIP. I guess people are keeping all of the good stuff.
I'm going on vacation in Washington DC at the end of July and I am going to check out some of the 2nd hand stores while I'm there! I haven't been to a good 2nd hand store in like a year? Maybe more.

@vengeance: Yes I will! There are a few stores that sell her stuff around here. Not at 2nd hand stores though.

@Totalanimefan: Aww that sucks. I sometimes see people posting a FB that they found a second hand pusheen plush.
