It was a warm spring day, and a young girl was in her backyard enjoying it. Her parents were in the house, but they were keeping an eye on her at times, but they were sure she was fine.

After all, she was mature for her age, and none of the animals from the forest on their land ever came close to the house.

However, as things would have it, she WAS being watched from the forest.

Some unknown presence was watching her... waiting. Waiting for her to lower her guard. Waiting for her to get closer and closer. Waiting for the opportunity.

It kept itself low to the ground, hiding in the shadows and bushes, remaining completely silent and nearly motionless... almost coiled like a spring.

Sure enough, the patience was rewarded, as the girl got close enough that it considered its chances of hitting its target to be more than adequate.

With that, it crouched down even lower, before springing out of the bushes right towards her.

"RAWR!" was what the girl heard, before she turned and saw what was leaping right for her.

Her brother, Evan, rose up from how he landed, and looked at the girl.

"Because it's fun, Sammy!" he explained.

"You're the prey, and I'm the pre...predadat... pretad..." he stammered, before shaking his head.

"The hunter!" he exclaimed.

"Like Kitt!" he said further.

"RAWR!" he then yelled out, leaping for her again, but this time Sammy had plenty of time to get out of the way.

"No!" Evan exclaimed.

"Don't tell Mom, Sammy!" he yelled as he chased her.

However, it was too late. She was already in the house by the time he got to the door inside.

He paused when he got there, before looking around nervously. He saw some bushes nearby, and jumped in them.

His first instinct was to hide. And he would hide in these bushes.

He knew his mother would be annoyed with him.

Evan nearly jumped when she tapped him atop his head.

He followed his first instinct, and darted out of the bush... only for his mother to catch him by the shirt.

"I was just playing!" he cried.

"I was being like Kitt!" he went on.

"Sammy's a tattletale! She just wants me to be in trouble!" he protested further.

Evan had been squirming and struggling in her grasp... until she made her offer at the end.

"...." he was silent for a moment, pondering what she said.

"....okay." he said.

"...." he was then silent again, before scratching his head a little.

"Where's Kitt?" he asked her, seemingly out of nowhere.

She felt Evan's heart sink when she said that Kitt was sleeping, and that he shouldn't bother her.

".....yes, Mom." he responded quietly, as he started to rub where he'd been scratching.

When she let him go, he sulked into the house... still rubbing at a couple of points on his head.

"...homework's hard..." he mumbled.

"I can't do it right..." he whined further.

"Math." Evan replied.

"I hate math." he said.

"It's too hard and I never understand it." he went on.

"And my head itches SO much." he then whined, rubbing at his head again.

"Hmph." he mumbled.

"This sucks."

"Ok then." Evan responded.

He then walked off, and Lindsay passed him, watching their son go by.

"......" he was silent, before looking at Casey.

"What's wrong with Evan?" he asked.

"He's looking particularly glum."

Lindsay just sighed heavily.

"He just won't leave her alone." he said.

"But an itchy head?" he asked.

"Hmmm... that's a relatively new development." he commented.

"I do believe I saw him scratching earlier." he told her.

"You think it's anything serious?" he asked.

"Hmm." Lindsay muttered.

"I hope he hasn't picked up anything from the forest." he said. "He DOES like to sneak around in those bushes, for whatever reason." he said further.

"He's really been taking to mimicking Kitt, too." he commented.

"Almost like he's starting to idolize her." he said further.

"It's very strange..."
