I don't think I can ever heal,
Ever replace that hole your death tore in me.

Reveka nodded.

"Fruit salad it is." She said with a soft smile.

"Not sure what all I have, but there are a bunch outside I can collect too." She added. In the time she'd been there, she'd ended up starting to keep foods for those passign through the woods. She didn't want to kill most people, after all.

"Not a problem." She added after a moment or two.

"Back in a few." She then disappeared into what could be considered the kitchen.

Ashley watched her go, and sighed.

He looked around the room, before staring at his own palms.

"I escaped..." he said.

"Thanks to... her..." he went on.

"But... I need to save him... them..." he said further.

".......what can I do, though...?"

Reveka returned a few minutes later with a bowl and utensils for him.

"Here you go." She said, handing them to him.

"A decent assortment of berries. Let me know if there's anythign you don't like." She added.

Ashley accepted the bowl and utensils with a nod.

"It all looks good." he told her.

"Thank you." he said.

He then started to eat the berries. Slowly at first, but it quickly turned into him devouring the fruit, showing her that he had been, in fact, starving.

It wasn't very long, only about 5 minutes or so, before they were completely gone.

"Those were very sweet and tasty." he commented.

"Feel better?" Reveka asked with a light chuckle.

"I'm guessing you do, at least." She then said after a few seconds.

"Is there anything more I can do for you right now?"

Ashley nodded in response.

"I do." he replied.

"Thank you." he said, before yawning... deeply.

"And no, no, that's all right." he said further.

"I... should consider finding a place to sleep for the night." he reasoned.

"Sleeping outside is fun until it gets dangerous."

Reveka shook her head.

'Nono." She said.

"First, the animals wouldn't bother you if you're around this cabin." she started, "but beyond that, I am not going to send someone who looks to be around the same age I was when I died out to sleep in the forest."

"I have a spare bed. You will sleep there until you feel that you have recovered and can face the forest at full strength."

Ashley's eyes widened a bit when she said that.

"R-really?" he asked.

"You'd really let me sleep in a bed?" he asked her.

"...uh.... yeah..." Reveka replied.

"Thank you!" Ashley exclaimed.

"Thank you so much, Miss Revina!" he said, mispronouncing her name again.

Reveka winced at the butchering of her name, again.

"..." She didn't say anything, just sighed and smiled lightly.

"Yes, I would." She stated, gracefully ignoring how he completely missed her 'when I died' comment. She was grateful for that, too

"Are you tired? I can show you to the room now if you are." She then said with a soft smile.

Ashley nodded.

"Yes." he replied.

"I'm... very tired." he said.

"And... sore." he said further, seeming to just realize it, now, himself.

It seemed that the adrenaline he'd been running off of had dried up, and everything was now catching up to him, as his body was starting to realize just how bad a shape it was in.

"I feel like I could sleep for... well... hours." he then commented.

Reveka nodded.

"I'd carry you to bed, but we're the same size." She commented with a light laugh.

"Come on, I'll shwo you where the bed is." She then said as she got to her feet. Once he was good to go, she led him off to another room.

Ashley followed her to the room, and smiled when he saw the bed. He made his way over to it, sat on it, and nodded.

"...so comfy." he said.

"I feel like I could... sleep right now..." he commented, sounding drowsier and drowsier.

His eyes then seemed to close on their own, and he fell back onto the bed.

He didn't so much 'fall asleep', as 'passed out'.

Reveka just sighed. It was never good when someone so young was pushed to that limit. She never liked it, so she didn't bother him and left quietly.

---

When Ashley woke, he found the cabin quiet, silent save for the birds outside. When he went looking for Reveka, he found her out back, doing some gardening.

"Sleep well?" She asked, not looking up toward him. She heard him coming, could smell him even.

Can it be.. undone?

Ash was silent as she asked her question.

"Yeah." he then answered. "I did." he said.

"Better than... well... I can't even remember since when." he admitted.

"By the way..." he then said further.

"Can I ask you a question?" he asked her.

"Of course you can." Reveka said with a soft smile.

"And good that you slept well. I'm sure it did your body good." She added as she continued working on whatever she was trying to plant. She wasn't ignoring him, as she was sure was obvious with how she had been responding, but she did need to get this done before the frost came.

When Ashley asked his question, Reveka honestly froze. She didn't even seem to be breathing for a moment, or rather a few seconds, before she slowly sat back on her heels, brushed her hands off and turned to face him.

"Ashley... what makes you think I'm dead?" She asked, feigning innocence.

Ashley looked confused for a moment.

"Huh?" he asked.

"Well, for one, I don't sense any sort of body heat coming from you." he told her. "At all." he said further. "That's generally a good sign of death." he reasoned.

"And you told me." he then went on. "Last night." he said. "You said I look to be about the same age as you when YOU died." he finished, showing her that he had not, in fact, missed it when she said it.

In fact, he'd remembered every word of it, it seemed.

Ashley was silent for a moment.

"Why would it not be?" he asked.

"My brother's died a lot." he told her.
