Sierra paused when she was answered.

". . . . you know, you could argue there is no price." She commented.

"You were alive during the time you're sending us back to, right?" She asked. He nodded.

"Meaning there wouldn't be a price. You won't be dead, even if you're dead in this time. Didn't you say this time will vanish?"

"Well.... maybe, maybe, not." he replied.

"Part of my powers is that... time doesn't really function the same for me." he told them.

"It's hard to explain, but there's a chance I may just... disappear... from the world altogether." he muttered.

"Not knowing for certain is the worst..." Jackson commented.

"But I'm willing to take that risk." the man declared.

Sierra just sighed.

"And that is all the metaphysical stuff that we could only speculate on." She commented.

"there is no way to know for sure." She added.

"And since no one knows... it's shocking that you are willing to take that risk, actually." She then said, looking to the one who was offering.

"You really hate the way the world has gone, don't you?"

"Ever since Hank and my niece died, I've done nothing but rue this world." he responded.

"They didn't deserve to die. Hank was too nice, kind and gentle... and my niece was too young to have her future taken from her." he told them.

"I will gladly disappear to change that." he said.

"But that means this timeline will vanish altogether, right?" Jackson then asked.

"...nothing would make us happier." Sierra's friend responded sincerely.

Sierra looked to Jackson for a moment before looking back to the pair of them.

"If Jackson agrees, then I do too." She stated.

"BNecause... I can completely understand your reasonings. This world is horrible, and the catalyst was that one fateful day." She added.

"If that attack is stopped, there is a very good chance of another attack down the line, but at least the school would be properly prepared for it, thus denying the damned organization to get a proper footing as they have now."

"I hate to see a life lost for this, but I can understand it being for the greater good, as lame a phrase as that may be."

Jackson sighed.

"I'll do it." he said.

"If it stops this world from coming to be... stops this senseless death and violence... then yes. I'll do it. If you are will to, effectively, sacrifice yourselves for this." he told them.

"We are." Sierra's friend replied.

"Indeed." the other man confirmed, before thinking about something.

"Hmmm." he mumbled.

"You may need some sort of proof... a verbal phrase or code... for Hank." he said.

"Just to cement that you're right."

Sierra didn't say anything for a moment.

"Something to prove we are who we say we are, and that we werte sent back via a friend of his... that may help. He's not the most skeptical person out there, but... this will be a tall tale." She agreed.

The one with the time travel powers thought for a moment.

"Hm." he mumbled.

"Ah!" he exclaimed.

"Hank and my niece are really close, actually. And he's her godfather." he told her. "When she was little, she always thought he was a big teddy bear protector." he said further.

"So tell him to please continue to be her teddy guardian." he said.

Sierra nodded.

"Will do." She stated.

"What was her name?" She then asked.

"Stephanie." was his reply. Sierra nodded.

"Good to know. It should make it more believable to have her name in there." She paused for a moment.

"what would we," she motioned between herself and Jackson, "need to do for you to to do this?"

"Sleep." the man responded.

"Sleep?" Jackson asked.

"Sleep." the man confirmed.

"Once you are unconscious, I will send you back to a time when the two of you are asleep in the past." he explained.

"Trust me... it's not pleasant to actually be aware of the time travelling itself." he muttered.

"I see..." Jackson muttered. "And if we're not sleepy?" he asked.

"I have some... sleep aides... that can assist with that." Sierra's friend chimed in.

Sierra just rolled her eyes.

"Of course you do." She commented after a moment.

"But that would help, I can definitely agree with taht." She added.

"Right then." her friend said.

"I guess.... we should start..." he muttered.

"Indeed." the man replied.

"You two. Get comfortable." he told Jackson and Sierra.

"I need to prepare." he said.

Sierra just shrugged before heading to the tray that the body she was currently inhabiting had been laying on when she'd come to pick it up.

"I'm good." She said, getting comfy as she laid on her back. This was somwhere she was very used to being, and it wasn't something that was hard to believe once one thought about it.

The question was whether or not Jackson could get comfy anywhere here.

Jackson looked around, before seeing a pile of rags and garb beside her.

"Sure." he said.

"That'll work." he muttered, as he went and laid down on them.

Sierra's friend then made his way over with a jar.

"Ready to sleep?" he asked.

"I am." Jackson responded.

"I think we both are." Sierra said.

"See you in the past, Jack." She added with a wave.

---

The next thing Sierra knew, she was waking up in her bed. She sat up with a start, and a shuder, before looking around.

". . . right." She said quietly. It waws the dead of the night, but she couldn't stay there. She had too much on her mind. So she crawled out of bed and made her way to the door, and out. She had to walk.

"I... I can't believe I'm back here..." she said quietly as she stepped out into the cool night air.

When she stepped out into the night, she saw someone was out there.

She couldn't see who, but she could guess.

He was looking at his hands intently. Studying them, almost.

And it looked like he was oblivious to the world.

It was particularly easy to guess who it was that she saw, so she made her way over.

"You ok?" She asked after a moment.

"And do you have your upgraded abilities, or back to what you had before?"

"......." Jackson was silent as she asked her questions.

"Well, the answer to your second question is, upgraded." he told her.

"As for your first question... I don't know." he admitted.

"I feel... weird." he muttered.

"Like... not right, but at the same time, right." he said.

"It's... I dunno, hard to explain." he then sighed.

"What about you? Are you okay?" he asked her.

"I think I get what you are meaning." Sierra said with a light sigh.

"Something... I just feel like I do not fit here anymore, to be honest." She added. "Not... that I ever did."

"I... think I am all right, though." h then said.

"It... extremely weird being back here, though..."

"It feels like it was all a bad dream." Jackson responded.

"Except... it feels too real to be." he said.

"Yet... well, here we are, and my memories are so vivid." he reasoned.

"It's... surreal." he mumbled.

"To be given a second chance like this..." he went on, trailing off a bit, and then shaking his head.

"I'd forgotten how beautiful this world was." he then sighed.
