@Fade: Honestly, easiest way to explain it is the numbers on the cards have to equal 21, or get as close to 21 as you can, without going over. So if we got two 10's, that would be 20. We wouldn't want to draw another card with a number THAT close to 21 cause the chances of going over are...VERY high xD But if it were lower...maybe we were at...8? Then we'd say hit, as that would draw us another card.

@Angelus: I googled it!

When speaking of family relationships, the phrase "once removed" means one generation up or down from you. Your first cousin’s child is your first cousin once removed, and your mother’s first cousins are also your first cousins once removed.

"Twice removed" is used for a relationship with a person two generations ahead or behind you. Your first cousin's grandchildren will be your first cousins twice removed.

Tthis... no matter how much it is explained to me i can never get the hang of it xD[/color]

@Angelus: I..think a first cousin is the person with the closest blood line to yours. Like...My sister has a kid. That kid is my kid's first cousin. I THINK is how that works lol. But we just call em cousins regardless :P

@Theory: I'm really starting to get this now. Thanx for the tips. This has great practice for the final round of the official game.

Even the chart doesn't help me.

It helps me. But it doesn't specify what your mother's cousin is to you. I'm just curious.

@Angelus: No problem! Blackjack's pretty fun. You could also learn how to count cards, but that's not useful here. It's really only useful for, like, impressing your friends or going to a casino in the 1970s. :P

@Miss kitty: That's really cool! And confusing... If I refer to my "first cousin once removed" I could be talking about my aunt's grandson or my grand-uncle's daughter?

So your first cousin twice-removed is you Aunt/Uncle's grandson/granddaughter?

@Theory: Isn't counting cards considered cheating in casinos? I thought I've heard that on TV though perhaps not.

Yeah. I don't know how people can even count the cards though. It seems challenging enough.

@Angelus: That's why I said in the 1970s! I'm pretty sure that's when the strategy of card counting was developed, and once casinos caught on, they started using like eight decks at a time to make it super hard to count.
