@Eruca: I see it as a problem, i can logically sympathize with someone but emotionally sympathizing is more rare for me.
I think in some ways people are like this.
For instance a stranger you've never met says 'My mom passed away today' you may say aww I'm sorry for your loss, but then go about your day as it doesn't effect you.

Nothing wrong with being basic, Only issues IMO is when people use it for some existential crap that makes no sense especially if gonna polarize it as strictly bland or the other as being an attention seeker.
I love being weird, Nothing wrong with being a bit eccentric, or even liking the simple things.
