HM... The GBA games Friends of Mineral Town/More Friends of Mineral town are pretty good starters since they're more simple and straightforward. However I think I'd rather suggest the direct sequel, Harvest Moon DS/DS Cute, since there's a lot more customization throughout the whole game c': and you get more animals like ducks and sheep, and you can pet them with the stylus to earn their love faster, which is cute. There's also a lot more bachelors to choose from and unlockable content, like a mining system where you can fight monsters with garden tools and search for little harvest sprites to help on your farm. Another selling point is just all the optional side things you can do that keeps the game fresh, like cooking, fishing, casino, friendships, etc etc.

@Mica: YEAH I heard about it on tumblr but I had no idea what it was about, so when I looked it up and found out it was a horror game I was surprised but interested c; I still never ended up playing it I have no attention span orz

Holy crap it looks cute. No pun intended. Only slightly different from SV, and I love that graphic style. You can fight monsters, though?! I didn't think that was possible in HM. I thought that was a Rune Factory thing... which I've also been curious in. I also heard 'fishing' and when I hear fishing in any game, I'm instantly excited for some reason.
