@Shamrock Shamus: So you like, almost don't Choose to be asshole-y, you kinda just... are? Not sure if I can apply that technique. lmao
I don't mean to call you an asshole at all, not knowing diddly-squat about you. LOL

Do what I do. Hold tight and pretend it’s a plan!

If somebody were to start something in the store I work in, they would probly get thrown out.

Like, trip a kid? Thrown out.
Start yelling at the guy? The manager would tell you to leave. You aren't welcome here.
Complain loudly? You get told you are welcome to go somewhere else.

The thing is, we are a small town store. Small as in, we are the only store in the town. My town has one store, one cafe open half the week, one brew pub open half the week, and one ice cream shop. That's it. That's the whole damn town. We have around 900 people living in the town as a whole.

So going somewhere else? It's a good 15 minute drive.

So most people just deal with the long wait, and complain about it later.
We’re all stories, in the end. Just make it a good one, eh?

@Mellonin: Haven't tripped kids in Wal-Mart in a very long time, but damn do I still get tempted. Especially if they're screaming while running wild. Friend of mine once got kicked in the balls by a six year old. Somehow managed to not punt kick the brat. Kids around here NEED to be tripped or 'accidentally' smacked with a cart.

I work in a shitty part of Phoenix so we get plenty of people who will come in and buy lottery tickets-- poor dreamers tend to do that a lot (myself included lmao)
We wouldn't get lines period if people would just not bring in 20+ scratcher tickets or buy $40 worth of Powerball
But hey, without the customers I wouldn't have a job right? Bleh

@Eruca: Pft. I can help my assolery to an extent. I can't help my IED though.

@Mellonin: Idk how people can stand to live in the boonies like that.

@Another Movie Addict: My kids just have a huge amount of energy. I think Cian especially though. But they are not bad kids and they don't mean any harm. If they bump into you, they'll apologize. And they aren't going to intentionally do things like that to others.

Wait, people actually scratch off their lottery tickets at the register? You're not at the casino, this is not a slot machine, you can't just stand there as long as you feel like it. Buy your tickets and get out of the line. :|

I can see how a person like that could be "good for business" in some sense, but for your regular customer who just wants to buy their beer and cigarettes and get out, that person is a total nuisance. :|

@Shamrock Shamus: I moved here from just outside of Washington DC, so it was a huge adjustment. Luckily, shortly after I moved here, they put in a new brew pub just down the street, so now we have the basics - a pub, a store, a cafe, and an ice cream parlor. All directly across the street from my apartment. So it's not as bad as it used to be, before they put in the store and pub.

The town I grew up in, though? One store, about a mile from my house, and one flower shop. No places to eat - or drink - unless you drove at least 10 - 15 minutes in the car. THAT was horrible.
We’re all stories, in the end. Just make it a good one, eh?

@Theory: Yes. There are ass holes who will just stand there playing scratch off back to back. Not giving a fuck about anyone else.

@Mellonin: Seesh. I couldn't stand that. I have always lived in large cities. Born in Dublin, lived in Boston and now Cincinnati. Granted, I live in a smaller suburb of it but, ya know.
At least it's more bearable for you with the pub. : )

@Theory: They do, and it's the worst. They're not allowed to do that at my store thankfully lmao
