I used to be a discord fiend, but had to drop the noise and relax - so here I am. I get a bit too engrossed into people and start going crazy, so I get taking off of socials - oftentimes you don’t need them, they need you. But ye, I joined back in February. So newbie newbie aswell.

ooh i remember loving chat rooms and instant messaging when i was younger!!! i do think discord is probably the modern equivalent of like aim or yahoo messenger msn etc :0
but maybe w some cultural differences, since discord kind of emerged from like a gaming community right...?

I think discord was supposed to be the next step from ventrilo and teamspeak
Yep, although they have rebranded to reach out to more than gamers (get worldwide money/appeal). It’s a great app, I’m just not great with my time on socials, especially not instant ones. :upsidedownhead:
I'm better at staying active on here when I'm on my laptop. I get to easily distracted on mobile lol

also did slack or discord come first hmm ,,, although they def cater to diff communities, at least at first but curious to see how they choose to evolve
i can def see discord being more general for casual communities! i think slack would want to but has too much association w work/professional settings to be super popular among the younger crowd
