honestly i have very little idea what was popular 10 years ago besides mainstream shonen jump stuff. i know full metal alchemist is super popular, but people love it and doesn't sound cringe to me. code geass was a thing i think?? Melancholy of Haruhi was also a thing??

10 years ago? what did people watch back then? naruto and bleach? i thought those were super mainstream and not horrendously cringey though

chiffon - if you already have a specific costume you want to make, chances are, someone has posted high level tutorials about it. the more detailed stuff you can search for similar looking pieces in more common characters

i say local cons, but the local ones are definitely at least mid to large sized gatherings.

wait what about what fit? what's that got to do with maid cafes?

chiffon - everyone starts somewhere with cosplay! doesn't matter what your skills are since lots of (some free) online resources teaching you to how to make things or you could buy costumes or assemble costumes out of clothes you already own. i started with making just accessories, like ears and props and stuff and just wore casual clothes XD

you can sell original stuff if it's more in the "aesthetics" category, so like food, cats, boba always seem to sell at the cons i went to.
