*A brainstorm later*
Mickey works at an animal shelter specializing in problem dogs. Kinda like a pitbull and parolees thing. Part of the reason he simmered down as he got older.
Aiden works at one of those cafe/reading lounge sort of places. No particular reason for it. He needed a job and he thought it would be easier than something like barista or waiter. Was mostly quiet at work, but became more talkative over time when he figured out the regulars and how to chat them up. It helps to get them ordering more often. One regular even tips well...when Mickey isn't hanging around to give him a menacing glare.
As for hobbies, for Mickey it's still kinda with the dogs.
For Aiden, you might think it's reading, but he is actually a horror movie buff.

@Sumire: If you don't mind climbing into bed, you could make or get a lofted bed frame and use the underneath area as storage.
With some good packing, you could probably store quite a lot of all kinds of things.

@Shark: Thanks again for the volts.
Using some of the volts, I got it just about perfect, but needed a finishing touch.
@Zuzu: helped me to get this speech bubble item and now I've completed the updated versions to Mickey and Aiden.
Mickey has a bad attitude and sadistic tendencies. Aiden is easily distressed, but secretly likes being toyed with.
They're a a dysfunctional pair with lots of emotional ups and down, but they always makeup by morning.
Some years later, their relationship somehow managed to hold together, and even becoming stronger.
Mick became a little more mature, letting go of a lot of his anger issues, but still enjoys teasing Aiden and seeing him cry.
While Aiden became more confident and beautiful, figuring out how to push Mickey's buttons in all the right ways. Now Mick struggles more so with jealousy over Aiden's other admirers.

There is a house I pass by whenever we go out shopping. They go hard on just about every holiday they can.
Makes me wonder where the heck they store it all. They must have a killer organizational system.

@Lotus: Yeah, it's a tradition from her mother, who is passed away now, so she makes sure to continue it.
There was one year that our oven was on the fritz, and she ended up bursting into tears because she was afraid we couldn't do it.
We got a temporary countertop oven and made it work somehow though.
We make so much that we end up having enough leftovers for multiple meals over about three days afterwords.
