@PashminaPanda: yeah, all the awful stuff in oryx and crake is based on something that already exists or is being developed in science. that book was terrifying so now i'm terrified of the handmaid's tale lol. i'll still read it though.

It was the first day of sixth form, and Tallulah was not excited. Being here tended to overwhelm her. It wasn't building her tolerance or whatever her family liked to believe.

Well, at least she was able to nab a window seat. She could look out at the small, still lake, and the weeping willows getting their ends wet in it. The view would calm her down if she got overwhelmed.

She felt a tap on her shoulder and turned around.

"Hi!" the black-haired girl sitting behind her grinned. "I'm Renee."

"Tallulah."

"I sat behind you to be closer to the window," said Renee disarmingly.

"You could have sat next to me," said Tallulah.

"I prefer to be surprised by my seatmate," said Renee whimsically. "I like the randomness of it. And sometimes you can end up the best of friends."

"I hope we do end up best of friends with our seatmates," said Tallulah. She had not been looking forward to this school year and still wasn't, but she felt a little more upbeat. Friends made everything better. Maybe she'd make friends.

"And with each other," said Renee, and Tallulah's face broke into a smile. They beamed at each other.

Tallulah turned to face the front of the class as more girls began trailing in through the double doors.

@Alorrena: i hope for the best for you when do you start?

@Totalanimefan: is he a puppy? i've seen how high energy some puppies are and it exhausts me just watching them

i would love huge tree lined sidewalks, i'd explore the city too (little by little) if there was that.

@PashminaPanda: i read a bit of the book and then lost it :viocry: i'll try to find it or else i'll get the kindle version.
margaret atwood has a way of echoing reality in her speculative fiction that gives me goosebumps. her novel 'oryx and crake' does that too.

This a roleplay for Tinker Bell and I.
Feel free to read along. If you'd like to comment on the RP as a reader, you can PM me and I'll share your comments with Tinker Bell as well.
@Alorrena: oh that sounds like an interesting job, meaningful too as you're helping people, and it's great that it came easily to you. i'm sorry about the circumstances that made you leave. they were all things out of your control so it's just unfortunate. i hope your new job is just as fulfilling.

@Anarchist Beauty: that just gave me the most peaceful mental picture ever. it's like the galaxy brain of cottagecore.

@PashminaPanda: ughh i hate that. it feels like whenever there is progress, there's also a resurgence of conservatism and 'good ol' days' bullshit. it's like a cycle. because i see this right wing kind of resurgence in my own country too. and globally, really.

@Totalanimefan: cities where i live tend to be noisy and crowded so i'm not a fan; nobody can walk anywhere because a lot of roads don't have pavements. they have very little green cover and i miss the glimpses of nature.
the cities need to be better designed for pedestrians and hopefully cyclists.

it sounds like you did strain yourself, glad you could rest after that. i hope you are able to have a chill week to recuperate!

@Tinker Bell: i thought of a possible name for the school: Hazelwich Academy for Girls. what do you think?
here are my characters:

Renee
Age: 18
Appearance: Black hair, dark brown eyes
Personality: Friendly, optimistic and fearless. She's not big on studying or discipline.

Tallulah
Age: 18
Appearance: Light brown hair and eyes
Personality: Sensitive to psychic phenomena. Sensitive in general, picking up more than she wants to about people and situations.

@Alorrena: i hope you like this job too! what was your last job and what were the things about it that you loved?

@Anarchist Beauty: that sounds like such a peaceful existence. //yearns

@PashminaPanda: i think change takes time but it'll happen... someday. we've come a long way and we've a long way to go.
