I plan on watching less movies.
In 2020 due to lockdown I started watching more movies than I probably would have. In 2021 I watched more and this year I upped it again and saw 184 movies. As much as I enjoyed many of them I think I should allocate my time better.

Maybe read more. Improve my eating and sleeping/sleeping and eating.
Posted in Voltra was in my dream Posted 1 year ago
So some days back in my overnight dream activity I was briefly dreaming of logging onto the Voltra forums where a user I don't remember in a thread I don't remember told me that I'm welcome to post in their thread and encouraged me to converse on the most recent thread page.
I think that's an interesting reflection on being a member for my first month and how my body reacted when I ghosted the site for a couple weeks.
I appreciate the Voltra gods for making it a nice dream, it really did make me happy and want to post more.

Regardless this happened like, a week+ ago; just shows how social anxiety can bleed into the internet even when I have a positive story to tell.

Has anyone else had a dream with Voltra in it? Or care to discuss how odd dreaming can be altogether?

@Shark: I'm cold in Texas, 56. Tomorrow my girlfriend and I are seeing some live music. Sunday she leaves to see her friends in the Dallas area while I hang out in Austin alone for a few days, which will be equally lonely and opportune.
Do you have anything?

@McCoy: I don't think I explained myself well. I wanted to be a teacher when I was in high school. Cause of the Pandemic I'm very happy that I didn't go down that route because -gestures broadly- Everything went to shit. I'm sorry your GF has to go through that.

Looking at what you wrote I see how I misread that; I was like, "no way anyone would be glad they started teaching at the start of the pandemic it should be the other way around." At the time my girlfriend was a paraprofessional so the last 2.5 months of school that semester had minimal "Zoom responsibility" at least. The next fall is when things got terrible in a COVID workplace, but at least since those two years that part of the educator hassle has calmed.

@shark: Happy weekend.
Posted in Shark's Hangout Posted 1 year ago
@Totalanimefan: My girlfriend is in education and she echoes your sentiment.
What about the pandemic made you prefer teaching as opposed to the simpler days of 2019?
Posted in Shark's Hangout Posted 1 year ago
@Totalanimefan: Next weekend we get a 51/38 high/low, so we're frustratingly unpredictable than any other state I would imagine. Florida can take their eerie climate and do its own thing.

When I was considering a career in high school I wanted to work somehow in meteorology.
What did you want to be when you were not an adult?
Posted in Shark's Hangout Posted 1 year ago
@Totalanimefan: It makes you realize how nice electricity and such is and to not take them for granted.
Hopefully this winter isn't as bad. It's been in the 30s this month and last but today it got up to 81, so I'm not sure what it'll be like in a couple months.

I noticed the currency like, immediately, lol. Once the creature is found and tried the 12 users with the most evidence get to be on the jury. That's my conspiracy theory guess that I know is wrong but what my head goes to.

Totalanimefan:

@McCoy: yeah I knew about that one. It was national news and also I had family that was living in Austin at the time. That must have been awful. I don’t know what I would have done.

@totalanimefan: Once it got too cold indoors without heat and we got tired of cooking over candles (but that did happen) my girlfriend and I drove over to her friend's apartment to spend a night since their apartments were close and next to a hospital so last to lose power. We drove at like 2mph because of all the snow and ice.
And we we still had it way better than some people who lived on the generally poorer side of the city. While downtown Austin where hotels, luxury condos, and businesses are the power was on the entire storm. Inequality is an unfortunately strong thing here in my area Austin Texas America the entire world Humanity

So far with Voltra I've only had the mindset to visit forums in later hours past midnight, I'm glad I'm here in daylight.

Totalanimefan:

@McCoy: I'm in DC. Not every year gets that much snow. We are kinda on the border climate wise, so some years one big storm can really give us a lot of snow but that might only be like once every 5-6 years. What was winter like for you last year?

@shark: I'm glad you're not effected to bed and not in the North east right now. Winter/February 2021 was perhaps the worst winter in my life in Texas. Like most of the state we (my girlfriend and I) lost power. We got more snow then I've ever seen and even though we only had power off for two days some areas took like a week and for people who had pipes burst plumbers took weeks.
All because Texas' electrical infrastructure sucks and even though Texas leadership had several opportunities to fix it they didn't and still haven't.
Today (well, Tues the 6th) it got up to 79. This weekend we hit a low of 38. Texas weather is whack and unkind.

I'm continually "forgetting" Voltra exists and only returning to reply at late hours before I go to bed, I need to wire my brain to think of it as a site I'm allowed to visit in the daytime too, lol.
Posted in Shark's Hangout Posted 1 year ago
@totalanimefan: Whole moly, I don't know if we even got eight inches last year in Texas in February 2021.
If 2023 is a repeat I'm going to be very not happy. I like the snow but in small amounts.

I'll sign off of and slide out of my intro thread by showing off a gif I made on Roliana since that's sort of where the conversation is at and the image would be a good goodbye to it. It's off-site which ironically wasn't appreciated/allowed besides a certain sub-forum on Roliana, but I don't think anyone would mind
It's pretty neat, especially if you liked or are curious about Roliana's items. I noticed Roliana's items took a long time to load on the avatar editor (or maybe my computer's RAM sucked), so since I had over a decade's worth of items I had some fun.

@Shark: I'm glad in a purely good vibes close knit community like this that trivial attitude of the 2010s is behind me.
But regardless of trivial knit-picking, you were the 1st poster on your 250th page of your thread, congratulations.

I know there's a part of NE America that media reports is getting like, eaten by snow; is
@Totalanimefan: one of those people eaten?

Lotus:
@McCoy: I have been on other forums like you described and it takes all the fun out of enjoying the forum when everyone is misbehaving or breaking rules. While it's not bustling, voltra is nice to have a closer connection to fellow members or people who work behind the scenes to keep things running. Two doctor appointments sound intense, good luck. <3 It's a good thing you have a music gig to look forward to that sounds like a lot of fun eh? n_n Fantasia on the big screen sounds magical.
@Lotus: I hope so. There's an indie theatre that plays old/foreign/arthouse/combination of all films, and Fantasia is their monthly big screen classic series on and around Christmas. Last year's was The Wizard of Oz and in 2019 It's a Wonderful Life.
Also seeing Stanley Kubrick's Eyes Wide Shut and Ingmar Bergman's Wild Strawberries.
