Sometimes, I wake up and I don't know who I am. But today, I got to choose.
She invested 20 of the best years of her life and built her entire world around them.
Then they moved out and she didn't know what to do with herself.
She opened the fridge.
It was empty :(

One day I was walking by an old well when I heard a woman's voice calling for help. I called 911, and at the bottom of the well the police found the remains of a woman who had gone missing years ago.
I ran through the city screaming for someone, for anyone. But no matter how hard I looked, there was no one but me left.
There is a shadowy figure in my yard that I can only see when looking out my attic window. Every day it gets a bit closer, and now it is almost at my door.
Someone broke into the house last night, and when I shined the torch in their face, it was identical to my own. I thought it was a dream then, and went back to bed, but when I stumbled to the mirror this morning, I didn't recognise my face–it had changed overnight.
I was exited for the weekend.

She was awaken from her slumber as the cold of the night sent a numbing chill so deep into her body that she felt frozen in her dream. In a bit of a panic, she leaned over the bed to see if she had stripped her feet of her socks, and as she quickly sat up she noticed ghostly shadow figures surrounding the foot of her bed.
"You're not real," I whisper to my reflection in the mirror. She smiles back, innocent.

As I wrapped up the autopsy, I looked around the room with the patient's heart in my gloved hand.

It was a dreary grey morning when you hauled yourself to the lecture hall for the quarter's final exam. Nothing exciting on that test you suppose, but as you head back to your dorm after the exam, you hear your your classmate's panicked voice asking why you weren't present in the exam hall earlier.
You buy new windows for your house.

Black tendrils of smoke slithered across the floor, coiling around Ezra’s body, constricting tightly as red eyes glowed from the center of the billowing shadow figure.
Ezra strained against the ethereal bonds, trying to yell, trying to cry out for someone, anyone to save him, but his lips were sealed shut, his muffled scream dying in his throat.

The stranger stood before me, only, it was me; we matched perfectly from the top of my curly red locks, the bump on my nose, and right down to the scar at the corner of my mouth. I gasped, the air rushing from my lungs, and looked down in shock at the hilt of the dagger suddenly jutting from my chest.
Stars spun lazily across her narrowing vision as she drifted through space, mentally counting down the seconds before she was nothing more than a human popsicle.
Her empty O2 alarm blared in her ear at the same time something crashed against her helmet, snarling, slimy fangs raking her visor before the dark tunnel of her vision faded to black.

She shuffled down the cold, dimly lit street she had to travel to get to the safety of her home. She froze in place when she spotted a pair of glowing eyes staring back at her above a dark shape in the distance.

"Thisss is terrible..." Arika sighs to herself. You can't help but wonder what's on her mind as you approach. Spotting you, she offers you a faint smile, but you can see the worry behind her eyes, "I'm sorry, it's jussst... Our friends seem to be in sssuch a predicament right now... And there's nothing we can do currently to help. I'm not sure what to do with myself..."
As she lets out a solemn sigh, you see her husband Berinhard approach you. He claps a very large hand on your shoulder, leaning in to whisper loudly, "She is having a hard time. I'm very worried too, but maybe we could be lifting the spirits around here, yes?"
That isn't a bad idea, it does seem like everyone around Voltra could use a morale boost during these troubling times... well, Arika is a natural storyteller. Perhaps she'd like to tell us all a story?
This seems to catch her attention, and she gives you a faint smile, "Normally, yesss, but I'm not sure my heart is in it today..."
"Ah! But you can tell us a story, yes?" Berin booms excitedly, throwing his arms out wide, "In fact, everyone can share stories!"
"If everyone is sharing, we'd better keep them short then..." Arika hums to herself, "And perhapsss we could embrace the spirit of the ssseason... I'd like to hear something sssspine tingling."
Short and creepy tales huh? You could probably think of something...

An envelope gently falls in front of you, pausing you in your tracks. You glance up from it and see two individuals holding stationary and pieces of paper with pens. Before you are able to make sense of the situation, you hear a loud boisterous voice.
"Come all! Send your questions and receive a letter in return! Let us all become better friends!" A large bearded man cheers while holding up an empty piece of paper, his entire person beaming with enthusiasm. You recognize this man to be Berinhard from Cirque ad Infinitum, the man with a bulking figure and an impressive X scar on his eye.
Before you can make sense of what is happening, the woman beside him sways towards you with an enchanting smile. She picks up the fallen envelope and winks. It was none other than Arika, the snake charmer.
"Do you want to know more about us? Or maybe another citizen from Voltra...?"
You see the glint in her eye. She offers you the envelope, along with a pen and a piece of paper.
"Let me deliver your letter... I'll make sssure they get it and anssswer your questionsss."

And little by little, my posting anxiety went away. I also enjoyed chatting with Total in my welcome thread (I knew from then we’d be good friends).”

”One day I want to move to the DC area. I go there once a year at least for a con and to see friends/family. Whenever I go I really love the city. It don't know why it feels so homely to me. I would have to wait until my husband's company opens an office there, but I'm sure they will in the future!”

My PA family would be a train/bus or car ride away so I could see them during holidays
Much closer/cheaper/easier of a plane ride to England which is where my husband is from and all of his family lives. And he's older parents could actually come to see us. 12+ hours on a plane is too much for them at their age. Too many health factors.
It's expensive in the DC region, but not as much as the Bay Area. I could actually afford a two bedroom! Or at least a 1 bedroom with a den. ”You know I'm gonna pick my husband. We have been together for almost 9 years and been married for 7. We get along very well but we are still different people with goals. I love how smart and hard working my husband is. I love the little things he does like gets me water or cooks for me. I love that we both know Japanese and have mostly the same hobbies. We both travel well with each other and have the same political values.”

But when I was a kid my fosterparents mare had a foal, unfortunately there were unseen complications and she died during the night, so the little stallion would have to get bottlefed, but would also need an adoptive mother, which my riding school luckily could help with. So we spendt late spring- start summer bottlefeeding him, he got named Blanco. Thanks to the bottlefeeding the foal grew up to follow us around on the ield and was a very loveable boy. I think I might have been 8 back then...
( I from I was 10 til 15 didnt get to see him as I at that time lived at my biological family untill I was 12 where I got on an orphanage, during all tis time I was not allowed to see my former fosterparents )
Years later I got the opportunity to see him again some slightly chilly spring, where he seems to have recgonized me as he whinnied an galloped over the field to meet me and kept nudging my head and sniffing my jacket. I would have loved to keep him or buy him but was unable to and I've not seen him since and dont know what his destiny became as he got new owners ( fosterparents sold him when they had to move ) and hence dont know either if he should have sired any foals himself.”

”For this one, today, I choose my dog. I love him because he's sweet and affectionate and he's really goofy. When he plays, he tends to use his front paws to grab at the toy and he "bounces" all over the place - it's really cute. He regularly and unexpectedly flops in the grass or the dirt, and he verbally complains when he's lonely and wants to snuggle with somebody (usually me). He has wedged himself in to chairs barely big enough for a person, just to sit with or on somebody, and he's always ready to give lots of kisses.“

While wandering the plaza, you stumble upon a very bizarre site. A strange couple stands beside a giant wheel, wearing matching outfits. As you curiously gaze up to the display, the woman beckons you closer.
"Welcome darling... We have sssomething wonderful to share..." She hisses, a gorgeous smile upon her face. You soon realize it's Arika, the snake charmer of Cirque ad Infinitum. Beside her stands her husband and strongman, Berinhard the Mighty.
"Yes, little friend! We have wheel of LOVE!" His voice booms with excitement.
Arika laughs softly, patting him on the shoulder to calm him, "It'sss a very sssimple game... You sssspin the wheel, and share a ssspecial sssentiment basssed off what number you roll..."
"If you play, you get entered in big raffle! Sounds good, yes?" Berin gives you a friendly grin, "Show us how strong are your muscles! Spin, my friend, spin!"

Day 1 Lore
The mask was strange, featureless. Forever shifting. No matter when or how you would gaze upon it, the porcelain would remain without a single blemish. Perfection in sameness.
The girl danced around a fire before wild eyes locked onto a spectator. She snaked towards them, lunging forward in a fluid motion. And from behind the visage that concealed her face, she whispered: "And yet in all my arrogance, godly as can be, I couldn't see the threat before me," she took a step back staggered, as if struck, fingers slipping beneath the mouthpiece of the mask.
The mask fell away, an afterthought. Suddenly, a massive man separated from the breathless crowd, and crushed the mask underfoot. He reached out, then, and giant fingers wrapped 'round the dancer's slender leg arced from 'neath an emerald dress, painted toes pointed in elegant form.
"Twas a fool to not be seeing the love of the family," said the Strongman, aglow in soft firelight. Gently, he scooped the beauty into his strong arms and held her 'gainst his chest. "And the sacrifice of a father true. The end of the nightmare, yes? Beginning of the living for us."
Arika caressed his face, then, and gave her sweet Berinhard a kiss that echoed the fireworks in the distance. The crowd roared in approval as all throughout the boardwalk, a festival was on. Veles was long dead for the Cirque, and now was an era of happiness.
Their return was in time for a Breaker Beach celebration, and what a joy it would be, night sky contagious with color.

Your… path has been chosen.
Still very unaware of your surroundings, but knowing you for certain don’t trust the steps, you turn right. For an instant, there is a flash. A woman stands in your path, unrecognized by most. “Mother? Iss that you?”
Arika goes forward, but never letting go of Berin’s hand who stood close behind her. Her mother gets closer. “Arika… my child.” Her voice raspy and strained. Arika was hesitant, she knew this was not her mother, but having never said goodbye she braved the chance to tie loose ends. She closes in on her mother, who appears to look back endearingly. Berin is hesitant but allows Arika this moment, never letting his attention waiver.
Once Arika’s close enough, her mother figure places her hands on Arika’s shoulder, pulling herself close. Her facial features reveal a twisted version of who was once long ago a caring mother, quickly deteriorating as if her skin was melting. “Arika! Arika!!” It kept repeating, the viperous beauty frozen in place, terrorized by the vision in front of her. Despite it all, it brought back those last moments they used to live together. Tears streaming down her face Arika uttered out “I’m ssorry life dealt you those cardss, mother.”
What now looked like a shriveled-up monster, shrieked loudly and pounced at Arika, who flinched back at the nightmarish sight. Berin didn’t waste time though, he swung at the thing with all his might, his punch landing on a hard surface with a thundering sound. The vision evaporated it seemed, Berinhard was now preoccupied with his beloved, but you notice that there’s a crack on the wall. Could it be a way out?
Or a way into another maze?
