Samhain - which is actually pornounced Sow-when [odd, I know. but afaik, that's the accurate pronounciation] - is still, to this day, a Wiccan day. I can't remember the importance of it, I think it might be a solstice for the Wiccans, but even still.

And then there's the fact that Halloween is based on Samhain, where you would wear masks to hide from the demons and scary things that would steal the children. Thus why costumes are a part of Halloween today
