@vengeance: I mean... If you're legit mad/insane... Apparently you can't KNOW you are. As soon as you have the awareness that you aren't quite right in the head, that gives you a degree of sanity.
So since he's able to actually realize that everyone there is mad, and he certainly doesn't exclude himself, that gives him more credibility for sanity than most of the others.
