Fonts by default don't really have styling - but with just a little a lot of styling, they can become something magical!
Emphasis on text changes the way that we read it - both out loud or in our minds.

Bold text
makes you think something may be important, serious or needed to provide impact.

Italic text
shows desperation, exaggerated emphasis to a word.

Underline text
is almost like a check list or identifier, it should be used sparingly.

Strike text
is used for mistakes or corrections. Sarcasm would not be best in this!

Try to avoid combining more than 2 styles, as it is very distracting and loses it's purpose!

Let's talk alignment! font styles!

Fonts have 2 distinct styles:
Serif and Sans-Serif.

Serif fonts have 'tails' and work as the common readable fonts.
Sans-Serif fonts are more childish and round, but seem to be more predominant on webpages.

Voltra allows users to change their font based on what's installed on your local computer/desktop/whatever is installed on your device! This can be good and bad though, as you may have installed your favorite font - and while it looks amazing for you, other people are likely not be able to see it!

Each operating system comes with pre-installed fonts! Some have more, some have less.

The code to change our font is simple
This font is Arial

This is a simple markup for changing your font from Roboto (Voltra's pre-define font) to Arial.
What you should try doing is to add some backup fonts - just incase what you added isn't on the other person's system.

This font is Trebuchet Ms, or Calibri, or Verdana, or Arial, or a default sans-serif font
By seperating fonts with a comma, the computer searches the installed fonts - once it finds one you have, that's how it sees it!
At the end of the font you notice I just added a standard Sans-Serif, that's because by default, your computer should have a font ready for either Serif or Sans-Serif text.

Here's a small common and uncommon font guide:
Refer to the extended code above to ensure fonts can be seen!

Serif

Times New Roman
Bell MT
Book Antiqua
Candara
Cambria
Constantina
Vivaldi
Brush Script MT
Mistral

Sans-Serif

Arial
Calibri
Verdana
Trebuchet MS
Consolas
Comic Sans MS

I got a bit carried away there, oops!

As you can probably tell I like answering questions like this xD

And I am on mobile or I would have probably typed more..

Posted in 《Unicorns Charity》making a new contest Posted 6 years ago

Edit:
[ font=Times New Roman,Times,Calibri,Arial ] font changes to first available font [ /font ]

@mdom: different fonts are easy to change in forums but hard to get right! They use fonts that are stored locally on a computer, so different people habe different ones installed (and even more variety depending on the operating system)

If you are using multiple fonts be sure to close your tags first- nesting doesn't work

I can give you the CSS code if you meant on my profile though!
