Forums General Chit-Chat Greetings
@Taffy: True, there are still a few coming up which have a chance of surviving. including this one of course
@Hazer: Hahaha wel lhats good to hear. I look for avatar sites like once a year but I almost never see any new ones. So I'm glad you guys are working hard on it!
@GalacticGoudvis: I think this one has a good chance. They actually update this website a lot. The art is great, the community is active for how small it is, etc. I enjoy it here a lot. It’s the first place to feel like home since Ernya.
@Taffy: Agreed, they just need to get it out there more. This site isn't on any of the toplists/reddit/pbbg websites
@GalacticGoudvis: You gotta spread the word. I try but there aren’t a lot of people who know what it’s like on an avatar site and they don’t want to start.
@Taffy: True, but also making sure people can find it when looking for a gaia alternative could be a huge population booster
@Taffy: Well the genre websites/games like this fall under is either an Avatar Community site or a PBBG (persistent browser based game).
So getting a decent Reddit presence would be a first. maybe market it on the gaiaonline subreddit since people seem to be looking for new sites there. Also hitting the PBBG websites toplist would help alot. Maybe some refer a friend functionality could also help.
A better tutorial for when you start could help player retention.

I write or I play games on my phone if I'm not sleeping late at night.
@GalacticGoudvis: A newbie tutorial would be great. I wonder if that’s hard to implement?
You sound really smart by the way. I wish that we could break into reddit and get them to know about this site. That being said some parts of Reddit don’t have the nicest people ^^;

@Taffy: It's never as easy as it looks atleast, and marketing wise I was just naming things on the top of my head. I'm sure the admins have their own plan/timeline
@GalacticGoudvis: I wish that is wasn’t against the rules on Gaia to talk about other avatar sites lol
Sign up for Secret Santa with me every Nov-Dec on Voltra!
@Taffy: True, but there are other ways to get to the goal audience. For example if you google for "best avatar community site" you get mostly old links. So writing an article comparing the current avatar sites (including Voltra of course) is going to put you to the top of that very easily. Espcially if you write it on a platform like Medium. Of course this is only one side of the coin. You will have to have admins ready for deal with the problems that arise with a rising population (especially from places like reddit)
I will usually stare blankly at my phone if I can’t sleep.. :x
Usually playing AC; Pocket Camp, MapleStory or whatnot on my phone when Reddit gets boring lol
