They then stepped behind the dumpster area, and he placed a portal on the wall.

"This will lead right to my den." he told her.

"When you emerge, you'll feel like you have a MASSIVE stomach cramp, but my couch will be right there." he warned. "Feel free to just collapse onto it if you need to." he stated.

"I'll follow right after, and close the portal after."

Desiree nodded, waiting a second to collect her nerves, before doing as he directed ad stepped through the portal. She didn't end up on the floor or couch afterwards, surprisingly eenough.

Instead, she quickly made her way to where the kitchen was, and the sink, and ended up losing the smoothie and anything else in her stomach into it.

That hadn't been pleasant, but at least she survived the travel.

When Jaden made his way through, he found her there, in the kitchen, rinsing the sink out.

Jaden looked over towards Desiree, saw what she was doing, and cursed.

"Damn it all." he said.

"Of all things, it had to be the 'lose your lunch' side-effect." he growled.

"Should have waited longer after eating." he went on.

"Well, seems what you ate earlier was all for nothing. So feel free to raid my shelves and fridge when you inevitably get hungry soon." he told her, before looking to the portal that was still there.

"Stupid thing." he hissed at it, before closing it in an almost violent gesture.

Desiree was silent for a moment, having taken her headset off and set it aside.

"I'm ok." she assured him, having caught what he said due to looking in his direction once she caught sight of him out of the corner of her eye.

"I.. Dont think it likes tech though." she added, referring to the portal.

"Really bad feedback going through."

"Guess it's good to know for the future." he sighed.

"Anyway, as long as you're not hurt or anything." he reasoned.

"For now, just... well... try and get comfortable." he said further.

"I have my own laundry facilities, so you can use those, and... well, feel free to explore the place." he continued.

"I'll work on having your mana exempted so you can teleport right in, as well as give you an extra key and fob for the front door and this apartment."

Jaden smiled as well.

"...this world is filled with coldness and cruelty, and an awful lot of apathy." he told her. "It's the least I can do to try and help those that deserve it." he reasoned, making his way to the couch and sitting down in it.

"The fob and key I will be able to get tomorrow." he said. "I'll do it first thing in the morning." he said further.

"A mana exemption can take upwards of 2 weeks. 1 week at the fastest." he lamented.

"Security will have us jumping through a few hoops, but Mom should be able to help us get it in the quickest time possible." he assured her.

"I'll bring a pillow and blanket out for you." he said.

"Or... the ones I keep in this apartment, anyway." he clarified.

"Don't worry. I won't be unsightly. Aside from the disaster my hair tends to be." She added, motioning to the messily tied back strawberry and pink locks in question.

"Ahh, right. What kind of hours do you keep? And if you have to step out for your own reasons, are you all right with leaving me here alone?" She then asked.

"Or would you prefer that if you're not here, I'm not here?"

"I go to bed at midnight, and I'm up at 6." Jaden told her.

"...usually." he then mumbled. "I don't need much sleep. 6 hours tends to be more than enough." he said further. "So yeah, midnight tends be my usual, but it's 6 hours until I wake up." he stated.

"And that leaves me fresh as a daisy." he laughed.

"Right, speaking hair and such..." he went on.

"I'm... I've kinda got a thing about people using my shampoo and conditioner and products and such..." he admitted. "What kinda stuff do YOU use in your hair? I can pick it up for you so you'll have it here." he offered.

"...." Jaden was silent for a moment as she said what she did.

"Frizz control?" he asked.

"But what about conditioning? Scalp massaging? Deep cleansing? Root strengthening? Revitalising? pH balance?" he asked her further.

He then squinted his eyes, and Desiree swore he was judging her... more than her eye 'judged' others.

"Hmmmm." he mumbled.

"Sorry if this seems a bit forward or weird, but... mind if I feel your hair?" he asked. "Like, just get a feel for a bit of it?" he clarified. "I want to try and figure out what's best for you." he said.

And right now, the only thing that was stopping him from sounding like some creepy stalker... was how genuinely passionate he sounded about this, and how oblivious he was to how passionate he sounded.

Desiree didn't know how to react for a moment before chuckling lightly.

"Yeah, of course." She said. "Uhh, not a problem." With that, she stepped up to him, close enough that he could easily grab her hair if he so desired.

"And yeah. Just frizz control. My hair gets uncontrollably frizzy without it."

Jaden gently grabbed her hair, and softly ran his hands on it, and his fingers through it. He made 'mmhmm' and 'hmm' noises periodically, as he did this for about a minute, before letting go.

"I know JUST what to get you!" he declared proudly.

"..." he then paused, and seemed to realise what all he had said and done.

"...sorry if that was... creepy." he apologised.

"I just... really care about hair." he admitted.

"When you use the bathroom here... you'll... you'll see that's obvious..." he mumbled.
